Team & governance

Every role, what it holds, and which seats are still empty.

Organisations that ask an industry to be accountable have to be legible themselves. We are a new non-profit and we will not invent people. This page publishes the accountability map first, the names as each appointment is confirmed, and the recruitment status in between.

How we are governed

EOSYN Space VZW/ASBL is a registered non-profit in Belgium, governed by a board that meets quarterly and is legally accountable for the organisation's conduct, finances, and safeguarding. Staff run the programmes. The board does not.

Board members serve fixed terms and are unpaid. Any board member with a commercial interest in aerospace declares it in the conflict-of-interest register and withdraws from decisions that touch it — including partnership decisions. That register is published with the annual report.

No board member, staff member, or advisor may accept a personal payment, fee, or gift from an organisation we assess in the Accountability Index. The Index is not for sale, and neither are we.

Who holds what

Six roles, each accountable to the board for the work described. No role is held by more than one person, and no person holds more than one of the roles below. Where a seat is still open we say so here rather than blurring it — an accountability map with invented names would be the first thing we should be held to account for.

  • Chair of the Board

    Appointment in progress

    Governance, board conduct, conflict-of-interest register

Signs off the annual report and the transparency report before publication.

  • Treasurer

Publishes the cost-per-participant figures we quote on the donate page and defends them line by line.

  • Executive Director

Answers for every claim on this website, including the uncomfortable ones.

  • Head of Programmes

Independent reporting line to the board. Reachable directly at safeguarding@eosynspace.org.

Owns the methodology, the corrections log, and the source list.

These are open calls, not placeholders

If you can hold one of the roles marked open or in progress, we would rather hear from you than fill it quietly. Board and staff appointments are confirmed by the board, minuted, and published on this page with the appointment date — including the conflict-of-interest declaration that came with it.

Express interest in a role

Until an appointment is confirmed, the accountability for that role sits with the board collectively. Safeguarding is never left uncovered: reports go to the safeguarding address and, in the absence of an appointed lead, directly to the board.

The advisory council

The advisory council is made up of working engineers, mining-affected community representatives, and researchers. It has one job: to tell us when we are wrong, before we publish. Council members are not board members and hold no legal responsibility for the organisation.

Community representatives are paid for their time at a professional day rate. Unpaid consultation of affected communities is extraction with better manners.

If you need to escalate

A safeguarding concern goes to the Designated Safeguarding Lead at safeguarding@eosynspace.org, and can be escalated to the Chair of the Board. See the safeguarding page for what happens next and how fast.

A complaint about a programme, a member of staff, or anything published on this site goes to hello@eosynspace.org. We acknowledge within three working days and respond substantively within fifteen.
