The Mining & Climate Academy is a free, self-paced course series on what rare earth extraction costs — in land, water, communities, and climate. Every satellite, every rocket, every piece of aerospace technology begins as raw material extracted from the Earth. We believe the people building the future of space should understand what it costs.
The curriculum is openly licensed. Any university, school, or employer can teach it without asking us for permission.
The UN Secretary-General’s Panel on Critical Energy Transition Minerals records that mining “has too often been linked with human rights abuses, environmental degradation and conflict”, and that Indigenous Peoples’ lands and resources have been dispossessed. Every satellite runs on that supply chain.
We teach the sourcing, the review documents, and the questions an engineer can ask before a contract is signed. We do not teach displacement statistics we cannot source — the quoted record is on the Accountability Index, with its primary document.
