About EOSYN Space

Why we exist

We kept being told there weren’t enough women in the pipeline. We stopped waiting for the pipeline and built our own.

EOSYN Space is a registered non-profit organisation based in Belgium, operating across 12 countries. We run programmes that put girls on a path to space — and we hold the aerospace industry accountable for what it takes from the Earth to get there.

The same institutions that overlook women are often the ones with the worst records on mining ethics and climate accountability. These are not separate problems. A satellite in orbit begins as a mine on the ground. The industry that launches rockets is the same industry that displaces communities and extracts resources without environmental review.

We exist to change both sides of that equation.

The structural argument

Gender equity and environmental accountability in aerospace are not separate causes. They are the same problem, viewed from different angles. The organisations that fail to include women are often the same ones that cut corners on environmental review, that mine without consent, that treat both communities and talent as expendable.

We address both because addressing one without the other is half a solution.

We publish what did not work as readily as what did. A charity that only reports its wins is a marketing department with a bank account.

EOSYN Space — operating principle

How we work

  • Free at the point of use. Camps, mentorship and academy places cost participants nothing, including travel. Cost is not a filter we are willing to run.
  • Follow-up over footfall. Every camper has a named contact for twelve months. Sustained contact is the strongest predictor in our data — far stronger than how impressive the day itself was.
  • Local leadership. Programmes in 12 countries are run by people from those countries, not flown in for the week.
  • Open curriculum. Our Academy material is openly licensed. We would rather it spread than stay ours.
